Rua do Carmo

August 1988: a fire destroyed this part of the city and, once again, much of the downtown Lisbon history was lost for good.

February vs. August

Carcavelos Beach
Glad August is almost over, I can't stand this and I really miss spending my day at the beach. Actually October is the best month.

Berry Season

Our palm trees are at risk. A small asian beetle is killing them by feeding on the central part of the trunk. In most cases there are no exterior signs, so you don't notice it until they just collapse. Hundreds have already been cut down in the Algarve, southern Portugal, the most affected area so far.

America's Cup (IV)

I'm sure he got a much better photo than mine below but on the other hand, I bet he can't carry his camera in his pocket like I always do with my tiny Cybershot. :-)

New Zealand is still on the first place of the competition

America's Cup 2011 (II)

When the sunday race was over, the filming crews in the helicopters decided to have some fun by teasing the spectators on the beaches of Cascais with some 'risky' manoeuvres pretty close to them. However, I didn't manage to get a proper shot of the 'aerobatics'... :-)

Never Say Never

I hate McDonald's. I've been to one in Delhi six years ago (after travelling for one month in India, I really felt the urgent need of having some food that was NOT spicy). However, I was starving yesterday and just before arriving at the beach (and to the nearest bar!), the smell of burger and chips made me turn right, so there I was for the first time. Gladly, it seemed everyone was getting sun tanned, so the place looked almost deserted.
This circular building at Oeiras was a great icon of the 50s architecture before McDonald's.
