A perfect gathering spot. I'm impressed by the tile on the pavement. So beautifully done!

Not a bad looking fellow! I must say, I prefer him in life rather than yesterday's death scene. :)

Um linda vista da praça, tudo muito limpo e arrumado, o céu azul é um presente para o meu dia cinzento aqui, muito obrigada!

Maravilha. A viver Camões. ¨Mudam-se os tempos, mudam-se as vontades, Muda-se o ser, muda-se a confiança; Todo o mundo é composto de mudança, Tomando sempre novas qualidades.¨

Poets don't get that respect these days!

He certainly deserves such a splendid statue!

Couldn't find a French edition so I've added an English one to my A***** shopping cart for my next order.

Thanks JM!

What a lovely square - and, of course, a beautiful photo! I think I too prefer him upright and looking lively. Are those "lesser" poets standing guard below him?

@Kay: Those are eight prominent Portuguese in literature and culture in general from the 14th to the 16th centuries.

A beautiful sculpture in the middle of a fantastic square. I was going to ask the same question as Kate did. Luis must be the king of the poets!

Lovely capture, Jose. That blue sky is a stunning backdrop.

Quite a strange name for a bridge with a history. No wonder they renamed it.

E uma grande estátua que também ficou muito bem fotada!

This is a wonderful image - totally European! Great perspective.

I'm happier to see him stand here regally than dead on his tomb.
