The Opposite View From The Arch Top
Terreiro do Paço Square
The statue of King José I stands in the middle of the square facing the Tagus River right in front of the Quay of Columns.
Check the two previous posts and keep in mind all you see is "new" (late 18th century) as 85% of the Lisbon buildings were destroyed after the 1755 Earthquaque and Tsunami that followed it 40 minutes later.

Church Of São Nicolau
Downtown Lisbon
The original building dated back to the early 13th century but it was destroyed after the 1755 Great Earthquake and rebuilt in the 1770s.

Unexpected
I've seen this player several times and the oriental sounds he makes are just beautiful. He always performs at one of the busiest streets at Cascais. Only this time, as I was walking by, that kid spontaneously joined him and started doing some fantastic sounds with his mouth. What a great duet they made! I should have recorded it...

Information on this post. Also check the "INSIDE OUT: The People's Art Project" movie trailer.
By the way, JR, the mentor of the global project I met in Lisbon, was considered the most important artist of 2013 by COMPLEXart+design.

Julia Cota's Work
International Handicfraft Fair at Parque das Nações, Lisbon
Julia Cota doesn't look like an eccentric artist at all, she's a very nice humble woman from a village in northern Portugal. I wonder where she gets her inspiration from in order to create such 'hallucinated' figures. This is not kitsch, this is not naïf, this is just crazy and I love it! :-)

Another Passageway
... leading to the one I posted on yesterday.
Alfama is Lisbon's oldest distric where the Moorish elite lived until 1147. A four months siege brought the city under definitive Portuguese control and the Moors were expelled. Check this watercolour of the siege by famous painter Roque Gameiro (1865-1934).

Queen Mary II National Theatre
Rossio Square, Lisbon
The theatre was built between 1842 and 1846 on the site of the old Estaus Palace (1450) which became the seat of the Inquisition in the 16th century. Surprisingly the palace survived the 1755 Great Earthquake but it was destroyed by a fire in 1836.
