This pillory is 'modern' (late 18th century) but it was inspired by that architectural movement.<BR/>You can see the true manueline architecture on the Belem Tower post, I'm sure you do remember it too :-)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15783877262954668959noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-75161187001580513.post-86336428037867589262009-02-18T16:27:00.000+00:002009-02-18T16:27:00.000+00:00This is so beautiful, I would love to visit this p...This is so beautiful, I would love to visit this place!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-75161187001580513.post-52848645702435524982009-02-18T16:15:00.000+00:002009-02-18T16:15:00.000+00:00wow it's so white !!!beautiful blue sky too !wow it's so white !!!beautiful blue sky too !Babzy.Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08726884546505964576noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-75161187001580513.post-66102054520588821972009-02-18T15:42:00.000+00:002009-02-18T15:42:00.000+00:00Now that looks like a city hall. Correct me if I am wrong, but I recall that our guide told us that the twisting rope-like design of the column that you have shown in the photo is called Manueline architecture, and it is used in other building elements in Portugal. It was made popular and named after a King whose name was Manuel.Dave-CostaRicaDailyPhoto.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02567583999945259422noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-75161187001580513.post-54392428185874959442009-02-18T14:46:00.000+00:002009-02-18T14:46:00.000+00:00I remember seeing these buildings when I visited L...I remember seeing these buildings when I visited Lisbon.
