Autumn Mode (2)

Carcavelos Beach, a bit chilly. Surely warmer behind the glass, but even so nobody's there.

Broken Concrete

Sea Promenade at Carcavelos
Tides always are very high close to the autumnal equinox but I don't remember seeing such damage this time of the year.

Money vs. Natural Environment

These 54 hectare woods next to Carcavelos Beach are the last green lung in the area and will soon disappear to give place to 906 housing units, a hotel and a commercial zone.
There has been vigorous opposition specifically directed towards the president of the parish council, who approved the project when she had previously slammed it (she's a member of the party currently in power...).
According to SOS–Save Our Surf, an association of surfers that collectively operate around 30 surfing schools on Carcavelos Beach, the entire building project is sited too near the beach and will impact on wave quality by obstructing offshore wind flow.
