Hello Dear JM!
Difficult to say what kind of "stone wall"I've liked more.Your pictures are wonderful as usual!
The second picture... I guess it could be a residential building.Very nice.
In the other hand I LOVE old stones and all "medieval"stuffs!
Maybe deeply inside my soul, I keep a dream , a secret desire,to be a princess ! Just kidding!Gee!!
Happy weekend!
Léia :-)

This is a rare case of me liking the modern version more!

The house on top is fabulous--really, like from a fable. But to see stone being used like that in the new house warms my heart.
Long live stone!

Ooh, I feel like this post is especially for me! :D

I love stone and I think both structures look great! The old stone house has definitely more character though.

Thank you, JM! This post was a real treat.

Gorgeous stone work JM, I especially love the top one. Can you imagine the work that took? Amazing!

Very nice contrast between the old and the new!

I agree with Lois. Each photo is excellent on its own but pairing the two really stops us and makes us look and think. Great work, JM.

Your photos of the stone show that the Portugese can be creative in building decor with more materials than tile.

I've always been fond of stone buildings. Both of these, although different in style, have a warm and earthy feel to them. Lovely.

Old vs. new? Hmmm! No need to make a choice; both are wonderful! I like the character and the solidarity of stone.

PS. Personal question; if we branch out next winter and go elsewhere than México, what

Oops! I lost the message too soon. If we decide to go elsewhere next year rather than México, what's the weather like in Portugal? Any suggestions? If you have time, check my profile email and respond. If you don't have time, I'll understand!!

Although I like old buildings I prefer new ones, especially when they have a bit of design quality and aren't all glass, like this one. I like the textures in both photos.

Love both old and new.

Imagine being a small chameleon running along those old walls, finding niches to hide in and generally having a ball.

A few years ago, I would have said the old style was the only one speaking to me...
my eye has changed and now I really enjoy both.
