Dave beat me to it, saying Tennessee Williams was born in St. Louis. There is a street in the University City area of St. Louis that is lined with stars on the sidewalk for all the famous people born there.
How wonderful. I love, love, love Tennessee Williams. I've never seen any of his plays on the stage but have read most of them and they are among my most favorite old movies. I've watched so many over and over and never get tired of them. He created so many wonderful roles for women. His work is probably more appreciated in Europe then here. You would be hard pressed to find anyone under 60 or 70 years old around here who would even know the name. It's really sad. It would be awesome to see his work performed in another language. I know them so well, just watching the actors would be fascinating.
