As I mentioned on the previous St. Anthony popular (pre-)party posts, eating grilled sardines on the streets is a must. Therefore, the sardine has become Lisbon's June symbol.
These are so much prettier and more unique than so much of the junk you can find in souvenir shops I've seen. I could find room in my suitcase for some of these!

Lovely colourful sardines and as an added bonus, no fishy smell!!
A very inviting place and I like the colorful "sardines".
how cool! :) i'd not be able to eat them, though.
Those are indeed colorful sardines!! What fun captures for the day, JM! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Those are cute and I like the quilts too. My mother made quilts and was quite good at it.
I have never seen sardines so big and so nice. By the way our fish is the mullet (la triglia) but I do not know why...
The are so much more attractive than the real thing!
Who would think such a thing. The lowly sardine elevated to such a status! What happens if you don't like sardines. Are there any options?
Interesting little shop!
OOh I love these. Do they sell them online? :-)
@Lowell: I don't like sardines and I don't eat them! LOL!
@Ciel: I'll try to find out and let you know! :-)
How fun!
Madge took the words right out of my heart...how fun!!!
Those sardines are such fun!
I wonder if they can be used as draft stoppers on windowsills.
The best SARDINES I have ever seen!:)
Sardines? Never heard of that custom, but if you are going to have sardines, you might as well have brightly colored sardines!!!
Those are fun.
Como é cultural... Incrível! De certo que vale a pena virar artesanato, uma forma de entendermos a força que a sardinha tem na cultura portuguesa.
Uma pesca maravilhosa!
Quero uma;o)
I could eat grilled sardines any day of the year. Funny how traditions get turned into commercialism so quickly, but these are really fun.
Wonderful to see.. they are so colourful.

Very appealing to the tourist trade.
Wow! These are so cool - I love the sardines and the HEARTS! what an adorable shop.
