It's a beautiful scene but looks rather scary to me. The ocean is so powerful and so dangerous! There must have been lots of action for all that sand to have buried the pier.
They look like they might have thought about it for a minute JM, turning back at this point seems like the sensible thing to do, but if your surfers are anything like Aussie surfers, they very rarely do the sensible thing!

That's something I miss, the foam and the crash of waves.
That's quite a massive pier and the construction is very nice. I like the waves washing over the top, they look cool.
It always amazes me this time of year how quickly the sun starts slipping southward.

A really pleasing photo - the colours and the diagonals. That sea looks pretty wild.
Surfers are a breed unto themselves. Once you're hooked you're done. I heard someone say it's like the mob — once you're in, you can never get out!
I am surprised they are not making use of those waves.
