Are those markings or scars. Neat coloring on it.

Jim, those are markings. Most carp subspecies show different scale sizes making very interesting patterns, some are even called 'mirrowed' carps as the scales are huge and make great reflections.

Have you ever tried steaming carps, covered with cabbage leaves? I was told they're delish!

I have a cormorant today who would just love that fish for lucnh. The marking are quite striking.

Slightly green as well, maybe that's just the light at the aquarium.

If it likes cold water then I would recommend the fish to take a break and go for a vacation in Stockholm! ;) We're in the midst of a persistent snow storm at the moment.
