Wooden structure

Solid looking structure holding a glass dome of a shopping mall at Carcavelos.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And speaking of solid structures:

Manoel de Oliveira is the oldest active movie director in the world. His work has been awarded 39 times, not only in Portugal but also in several cinema festivals such as Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Montréal, Chicago or Tokyo. Actors like Catherine Deneuve, John Malkovich, Marcello Mastroianni, Irene Papas or Michel Piccoli have worked with him. Yesterday he has celebrated his 100th birthday while shooting his new movie and he is allready working on the next. Isn't this amazing?

Excellent achievement! I suspect this image of him may be a little ancien itself ...

bravo pour mr Manoel de Oliveira, un très grand réalisateur, j'ai beaucoup aimé "la lettre" avec Chiara Mastroianni.

Yes, Julie, he looks older now, but this is the best portrait I've found on the net.

How uplifting to hear of vitality and creativity thriving at 100! My dear friend, Robert Altman, was still planning another film when he died at 84. In fact, he had hidden his heart transplant from the press for years ... so that he could still be eligible for the required insurance by the studio.
Also -- your photo of the wooden structure inspired one of the photos I posted today. Guess which one??

Funny,I was just listening to a French radio through the Internet and they were talking about Mr de Oliveira;
They were saying that he was much more appreciated outside of his country. In an interview he was saying that making a movie was his best way of resting!!!
INspiring....
