Ribeira da Lage is the small river running through Oeiras downtown. Hopefully we will not see any buildings in this area as the terrains belong to the National Institute of Agrarian Research. The aqueduct in the background was built in the 18th century to supply water to the Palace complex.

Lovely, lovely pic. The aquaduct is beautiful. A piece of architecture we don't see much of here in the midwest.
How calm and peaceful! Would rather think about an English garden park than a Portuguese one. Anyhow, really beautiful!
nice stream and aqueduct , i like the palm-tree that tells me we are in the south ;)
beautiful composition.
the first time to see this picture, I think the plant in the river is a reflection of that. but after I see carefully, i see that is a real plant
Nice composition in this picture! I like the palm tree too and the aqueduct and the way you can see the buildings up on the hill through the trees.
Yes, it looks much to beautiful to build on. Must be even prettier in spring.
Such amazing history.
What a nice scene. I bet it's even nicer when those trees are green and full. Beautiful.
Lovely stream. I wish we had some in So. Cal. We are having a drought!
Can you fish in the steam?
This is a side of your city that I haven't seen. THis is just beautiful JM. More?

What! No sunlight? There's got to be something wrong with my monitor, I'll adjust it.
;)
(Do you know if the aqueduct is still functioning?)
That is a quaint little river!
Thanks for visiting Norwich Daily Photo and leaving your comments.

It is calm and lovely place.
Very picturesque landscape.
wonderful place!
I am always fascinated by the age of things in your country compared to mine. The only thing ancient around here is the natural landscape. In your landscape you can see how much man has altered and beautified things ... after all that is a river with stone walls for its bank.
Lovely green space. Like you I hope it doesn't get built on
Ny kind of place again for the camera. Love the sweep round drawing you in to wander
Quite interesting. I wish that place remains as it is forever. Buildings will spoil the beauty of this place.
No Per, there is nothing wrong with you monitor! lol! Unfortunatelly we're having some bad weather lately and it will not get better until next weekend!...
I don't think the aqueduct is still functioning.
Must be nice to walk along the banks on summer evenings...
Ribeira da Lage is NOT JUST the small river running through Oeiras downtown BUT A SMALL VILLAGE AROUND OEIRAS (4 kms) WHERE MY PARENTS HAVE a little house ...find Mr CARDOSO (very easy to find him) , talk him about LEITAO' house if you can post a picture about... please thanks ...
