All alone

Summer is gone... again! Temperatures have dropped, the sky is cloudy and everything looks gray... By the way, can you see the surfer?

I enlarged the picture so I could see him!

Summer? Here's me thinking it's spring! Grey sky here too :-( If you hadn't asked, I probably wouldn't have spotted the surfer, I was too engrossed in that lovely wave!

I can. He's that tiny little spot over there, isn't he?
Hey, the sky looks great. I'm waiting for the big waves to come :).

Gray cool days in this season can make you feel as alone as that surfer.
Thanks for your comment. I agree.
And the new one?

What a great, gray, brooding sea. You've taken that flat gray light and turned it into a restless, beautiful image.

I almost didn't see him! Powerful photo, JM — symbolic of man in the universe.

I hope there's a lifeguard watching out for him somewhere on the beach.

I would not have seen the surfer without your tease. I feel a shivering cold just looking at your photo. Brrrrr. This looks like the type of weather that they have in England that causes so many British to come to Portugal.

You won't catch me in that dark surf! Sorry about your weather JM. I'm sure it will be gorgeous in Oeiras very soon.

Yes, I can see the surfer.

Here, we skipped autumn and we began winter right away. It seems we'll have to wait for Indian Summer.

Yes, far in the distance - a bit like the summer!

I like this grey photograph of the surfer who is a long long way out. I admire your boldness in composing such a basic image, JM. It works very well indeeed.

Well, he wouldn't be paddling about that way in our waters so it can't be that bad...

I agree about those grey textures. Also, quite a stark contrast to your previous colourful post.

Totally, Dude! To borrow a phrase, that's a great atmospheric piece. I don't mind the grey days if there's some wave action to offset the dullness.

Yes, I can see the surfer. How could temperatures drop. It was 101 at Disney World in Orlando this afternoon!

I can't believe someone is surfing in the cold dreary weather. Surfers are diehards though and will surf any time they have time and it does not matter what the weather is like. Thanks for all of your comments on my site. I have enjoyed all of them very much. Thanks for identifying the cactus on my site. I appreciate it. I do not always know them all. I am sorry I got a bit behind in responding lately because of work demands. I hope to see light at the end of the tunnel soon. I am preparing a night scapes series this week on my site. I was able to fit in a full moon photography class last Friday night so I tried this weekend to practice what I learned. I hope you enjoy it. Night photos are tricky.

The sea looks so sad on a cold grey day ... I am sure the cheerful sun will be back soon.

Don't despair!!
Summer is on its way... but all that beautiful vegetation in Oeiras needs water to grow!
