Contemplating Bugio

Santo Amaro beach.
Bugio Fortress dates from 1593 but the construction of the lighthouse on top of the central tower is uncertain, although it is known to have been modernized in 1836. (Click to enlarge)

I agree with Jim; it would be a restful place with a view to rest the eyes!

Are there any people there in the fortress? Wow, talk about splendid isolation.

This is a superbly composed shot JM. I love all the blue and I did enlarge it so I could see everything better. Beautiful!

The framing of this shot is perfect.

Without enlarging, the lighthouse looks like the stack of a ship. This is an elegant shot, very clean, simple lines but such great depth.

I'm just heading out to work...but I wish I could sit on those chairs and contemplate the view instead! Amazing intense blues in this shot.

un endroit de repos et zen, j'aime. cela me donne envie de prendre un livre, un verre et de m'assoir pour profiter de la mer.

What a beautiful scene. I can just see myself sitting there watching the water and having a light lunch. That would be great.

What a super place to relax and contemplate. I wanna be there. It is nasty and raining here. I need calm.
those dates blow my mind--our country is so new compared.......MB

I like the perspective on this shot. It shows the distance to the fortress and has such a sense of peace.

Wonderful horizontals here, JM. This image is just so well thought through. Then to boldly slice it with the vertical ... inspired, really.

Bravo!

Magnificent photograph...again tack sharp.

Is there a way for tourists to visit the lighthouse?

Is this in honor of Virginia's table and chairs series? In any case, you've done a beautiful job.

Wuihh, I wish the lighthouse isn't that far from the beach.

Another of your perfect seaside compostions, JM. It's the kind of picture that would be suitable for photographic wallpaper (the physical kind). Very pleasant to look at.

Glad I enlarged. I thought that it was a ship in the distance. Of course you already know that the composition here is spot on!
