Beautiful shot...that white stone sculpture against that amazing blue sky.
Very cool horses!
Nice pair, I like their perspective and light. The statues look in mint condition, restored, well preserved or relatively recent?
What handsome steeds against a beautful blue sky!Forgive me for my recent neglect of my fellow bloggers! We decided to paint every room in our house, both ceiling and walls. It's taking longer than I had anticipated!! But, I'll be back sporadically!
The horses looks happy ;)
Vogon Poet, The Empire Square was built to house the Portuguese World Exhibition in 1940, so the sculptures date back to 1939 or so.
JM - quit horsin' around! Grand snap!
The tutelary marine horses at the Empire square.
Funny: just before I read your reply to Vogon Poet, I was thinking they looked like something out of the thirties!
Beautiful shot! Marvelous photo! Those hippos seems run till the Sun!
Very imperial! I lived in Lisbon for a while, in Loures, but I don't remember the horses. Time to come back, maybe.By the way, for your first anniversary: parabens!
Beautiful sculpture, stunning photo!
So CUTE,Amazing shot from the bleu sky And white horses :))
Yes it does not surprise that it is the end of the 30s. It is a very powerful image of nature. Good shading and a wonderful sky, Jose.
Nice composition with the blue sky!
Another lovely shot, Jose.
Very handsome sea horses! And so lovely against that wonderfully blue sky!
Had to google hippocamps to find out what they were. Now I see the fish tails on the horses. Blogs are great for our education.
Very nice - they look like chess pieces. I have learnt something new today - "hippocamps".
What a pair of beauties!
Stunning shot against that beautiful blue sky!
Nice capture.Thanks for sharing.
