BLOG ACTION DAY '09

CLIMATE CHANGE

''Blog Action Day is an annual event that unites the world's bloggers in posting about the same issue on the same day on their own blogs with the aim of sparking discussion around an issue of global importance. Blog Action Day 2009 will be the largest-ever social change event on the web. One day. One issue. Thousands of voices.''

Sign on the cliffs at São Pedro do Estoril

Every winter in the last years, bars, restaurants and even summer houses are destroyed (or have to be abandoned) at the most critical areas of the Portuguese coast line.

It is a fragile planet. We must be ever mindful of how we impact it. Good post.

Interesting post. I also found it curious that when there signs warning people not to put themselves in danger, including obvious dangers, they often print the signs not merely in the local language, but in English also. Is this because English is somewhat of a universal second language, or do they think that English-speaking people need the warnings more than others.

I didn't know about Blog Action Day, but had an environmental themed post nevertheless.

Great post for the day, JM. I, like Dave, was unaware of the important theme day.

My goodness, that's awful. Is today the day to post? I hadn't heard about it before reading it here - I'll have to watch for it next year, I guess. Sorry

I am not sure if we have any effect on global warming but I think we still need to be energy efficient and help the environment.

That's scary! Well, in fact in Brazil there are also such examples... Unfortunately...
God bless you!

I'm confused. Was Blog Action Day today?

If not, when?

Climate change is impacting many people already...even parts of downtown Miami are now underwater (several inches) at high tide...

These are all impressive photos!

It's time to act!
