MNAA

Housed in a grand palace dating back to 1690, the MNAA - Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga has an amazing European art collection, bursting with Portuguese works, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, textiles and furniture. There is also a superb collection of decorative art from Africa, India, China and Japan.

The museum currently houses the Encompassing the Globe: Portugal and the World in the 16th and 17th Centuries exhibition. Nearly 300 extraordinary objects gathered from museums in China, India, Japan, South America and Europe speak to the cultural exchange that took place between Portuguese explorers and people in Africa, India, Oman, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, China, Japan and Brazil. Don't miss this if you are in Lisbon until sunday!

I'm in awe of those high ceilings and that magnificent chandelier! That first shot is superb, JM...perfect lighting. Has a warm, comfortable feel to it.

Certainly this would be a great place to spend several hours on a lazy afternoon!

Like both shots, but I'm envious of the first one: perfect light and composition. I simply didn't know of this very interesting museum...

Love that chandelier. The chairs look like Louis IV.
