I am wary of modern stuff, but I like it when is used as contrast to something very old. I see this as an exaltation of the old and a respectful way to catch the distract eye of the passer-by.
I like the contrast in your photograph, Jose. But I don't like that Civic Fathers allowed that style of structure to be placed just there. Shows little respect to the past.
The other thing that astounds me is that the car park entrance is not spattered with graffiti tags.

Well, maybe the fort is guarding all those cars under it.
That is a great shot and quite a contrast indeed! That fort looks very similar to the fort in St. Augustine, Florida.
You named this one just right. The box seems out of place there.

Now there's real contrast between old and modern! But this glass box really doesn't show off "modern" in a good way. It's just a glass box.

When you have to juxtapose old and new I think clean lines of glass like this work well ... we can't be total slaves to our history.
