''L'Arbre biplan''

Jean Dubuffet's sculpture on display at the CCB (Belém Cultural Center).
The west wing of the Jeronimus Monastery can be seen in the background.
***
An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale shook Portugal for 8 seconds at 1.37am. It was quite scary! Fortunately the epicenter was located in the Atlantic Ocean 100kms off the coast.

6.0 that is quite a strong quake---good thing it was way under the ocean. We have them out here too.

Beautiful sculpture. MB

What are the red squares around the tree? Whatever they are, they add color to the shot.
Glad the quake didn't do damage.

An earthquake?! Oh no! Portugal has had enough of those. It would be so sad to see any of the beautiful things you show us shaken apart.

Wishing you a quiet night on solid ground.

Léia, BSQUARED and Jarart,

The red cushions are usually there for people to sit on this patio and enjoy the sun while reading a book or so, but a group of school children was playing with them and have positioned them that way (you can even see two of their backpacks near them).

This is so nice. That Belem Cultural Center is a jewel in your community. Another great shot, too, JM!

6.0 on the Richter Scale is nothing to sneeze at! Yikes. Any damage in your area?

The sculpture looks great with the sky. Great angle you were able to take it from! Merry Christmas!

I have read about the earthquake... are buildings there quake-resistant?

That looks warm and inviting, especially compared to here. And Paris at the moment.

The earthquake must have been frightening. The worst earthquakes in US history were in this part of the country, not California, in 1811- 1812.

Glad to hear you're ok, earthquakes are quite scary. I'd love to see the monastery but also like the contemporary in front of it.
