This is a really far out image! Terrific. I can't quite tell, but beneath it all.. it appears to be what looks like a nest under the pillar? I like the bit of history in those photos below as well-
Oooh I'm not keen on wasps ... they repeat bite so an attack can be very alarming ... I am told Europeans bees can too ... our bees can only bite once then they are done.
In some circles, a WASP refers to a "White, Anglo-Saxon Protestant." I didn't see one here, I don't think. So, I looked for a wasp nest, but was afraid I'd get bitten, so backed off and decided to write this silly comment.

Great shot. Some unpreserved things can look very good for photos despite their conservation status.
Not sure about the wasps' nest, but it looks like the guy in the photo has a bad case of acne.
