A Bunch Of Horses

This was once the farm owned by the first Count of Oeiras, the founder of the city, and it's just about one hundred meters from the historic downtown.
Who said I don't live in the countryside? :-)

What a great shot, JM, and how wonderful to have both city and farmland all within an easy walk!

Pra mim esse lugar é puro sonho! AMEI ! :)
Nós estivemos de férias visitando a familia no Brasil, eu quase tive uma overdose de VERDE por lá...super!
Viajar é ótimo, mas eu estou me sentindo muito mal com o tal jetlag!A diferença do fuso horario tá grande.
É sempre uma agradável surpresa visitar seus blogs! Excelente post!
Forte abraço
Léia

It makes me happy to know you have countryside AND horses nearby. They are both good for the soul. :)

Who owns the property now, I wonder? It's a lovely scene with the horses, the creek, and all the greenery. Very nice shot!

Kate and Eleanora,

I don't know if this land is private or if it belongs to the National Institute of Agrarian Reserch (next to it). Sadly, it's not mine! LOL!

Place is so beautiful. You are lucky in Oeiras to have this treasure only hundred meters from downtown.

Wow ... you do live in the countryside but that channel which looks more like a ditch than the creek is a bit of a give away.

For a minute I thought you had paid a visit to beautiful Ocala! Cool shot and cool place!

What an idyllic scene. Stop teasing me with your green, grassy photos, or I'll make you jealous with pictures of my brown, treeless desert! :)

We have to believe you but it's hard!! ;~))

Cities are great, but it's always nice to have a natural area to escape to. This is so inviting.

Idyllic, serene and gorgeous... and that goes for the photo, too.

I'm trying to make my mind up about the bigger format photo layout.

The smaller is easier to navigate, and, of course you can always click on the photo to see it bigger. Some of the leading photo blogs (eg. Lenscratch) that feature different artists keep it small - that doesn't stop me from recognizing a great photo immediately. I knew your photos were lovely even when smaller.

So now I don't know what's better.

Either way, your photos are great.

What spectacular countryside this is! So picturesque. I would love to live somewhere as naturally beautiful as this. So much peace to be had there!

So nice to have some countryside close to the city. And you know I love horses. Beautiful. MB

The land belongs to the Ministry of Agriculture (130 hectares). Some of the land is rented to a horses breeder. There is also 2 hectares of vineyard that produces the famous Carcavelos wine:
