Cartuxa Convent Church

I have found this by accident while I was walking at Caxias.
Unfortunatelly the site (built in 1736) was closed so I took this shot through the gate.

Not unfortunate at all. The gate makes a perfect frame.

Strange that it was closed! I wonder what it looks like inside? They could use some BIG flower pots in front of the entry - just my humble opinion.

Isn't it interesting what one can see by just walking about? Beautiful photo of an intriguing structure. Would love to see the inside. I'll bet it smells musty! ;-)

I hope it was just closed and not abandoned. Both images are lovely, but I especially like the one of the path!

Is it closed as in nobody lives there anymore?
Excellent shot with the gate making a great frame. Don't you just love long walkways. Sets a tone for sure.

We had a small convent in the neighborhood I lived in as a kid. The Nuns taught at the local Catholic school. MB

Looks like it would be awfully hard to get out once you go in.

You made me smile: I have a lot of pictures taken through the gate, it so sad but sometimes it's the only way. An interesting building and a promising park, a pity it's always closed.

Your photos are marvelous and what an interesting and beautiful old building. There are so many wonderful things that I loved and enjoyed when I was visiting in Portugal a number of years ago. Lovely memories! Thanks for the reminder and thanks for your visit and comment! Always appreciated! Have a great week, JM!

I bet it's nice and cool on a hot day. In the summer those olive trees are probably humming with the a zillion cicadas.

I think the gate adds to the photo, you've got great framing and perfect symmetry. Maybe your lucky day after all?

A magnificantly framed shot, making the building look very serene.

Getting in and getting out appears to be a challenge.
