Sour Fig

This south african succulent (Carpobrotus edilus) thrives in rocky/sandy soils on the seashore. It blooms once a year and it's a feast for the eyes.

A beautiful field of flowers!

Ps. I've been travelling back to Mn. the past few days without ready access to the internet; therefore I haven't been commenting very much. I'm still posting from Santa fe since I scheduled it before we left. Hope to be back soon!

Incredible. I've seen so many "wildflowers" lately and have been amazed at the diversity and beauty of these things.

Fantastic shot, too!

I like your perspective here. They are pretty and even better because they're near the ocean. Of course, I'm from the desert, so the ocean itself is kind of awe inspiring!

Sun, sea, flowers - life seems good down there in the south-west corner of Europe

I like the way succulents are happy to thrive in places other plants find inhospitable. They make for a very pretty view.

A field of bright color. How beautiful.

Regarding have the young man staying with me: We all are products of our home life and oh so true when a teenager spends time with you. LOL. I just hope he went home with some positive ideas. MB

Sometimes, we all have to act like succulents in the sandy soil of life...

Maytime,
if it's possible for me,
I hope to stay in your country for a month

ice plant! it certainly is pretty, i must admit but it's hugely invasive here and has ruined a ton of native plant habitat and plants themselves! i wish the flowers were uglier so people would stop planting it around here!

Pretty!

I guess the fact that it blooms only once a year makes it that much more special!
