Green and calming. Should we be concerned that you were in the SAMS Hospital yard?

No, Brattcat, not really but thank you anyway.

I never think much about ferns, but you are showing us that they can be really beautiful. What about the red flowers below?

The climate in Lisbon must be similar to the climate in Florida. If so, the more shade the better! Especially in the summer. Beautiful shot, JM - I like the sharp delineation in the leaves!

@VP: The redish flowers are strelitzias.

@ Jacob: Lisbon is much drier in summer and cooler in winter than Florida, however a lot of species from the tropics and desertic regions have adapted quite well. With all the changes going on the temperate climate of Portugal seems to be turning subtropical sometimes!...

You have cactus, but we don't have this, it would never survive our summer heat. Very pretty, especially with the red peeking out.

I love tree ferns. At the end of my next Bluemountains trip there are lots and lots of them.

I do like Tree Ferns and that one is a beauty. I wish I could grow them here. I used to carry them for sale at the house plant area of the greenhouse. MB

Ferns are so ancient and primitive, love them.
Didn't know of tree ferns. There's a lot to love there.
