Crowded Carcavelos Beach on a week day
Thanks to the incompetent politicians (to say the least) who have ruled this country in the last years (or shall I say decades?), Portugal has reached its highest unemployment rate ever and is now #4 on the unemployment top list of countries inside the EU.

It's a shame that you have to struggle with such high unemployment rate!
At least there's amazing beach and blue sky (which I hardly remember!!!)to make life a bit nicer:)

From what I heard on the radio this morning, the whole EU is over 10% now. Given the choice, I would still rather be at the office than on the beach, especially as it's getting quite crowded! ;-)

Those are very hard statistics to hear. It seems to me that incompetency in politicians is running rampant all over the world. My country certainly heads the list.
Maybe the people on the beach have momentarily escaped a direct blow from this rate of unemployment but we are all impacted by it, every last one of us.

Hmmm, I wonder if any of them are worried about where dinner will come from tonight?! Well, if they're skipping out on work, I guess the beach is the place to be!
Oh yes, politicians running countries (and states) into the ground - we know how that feels too :( Well at least, those people are enjoying their unemployment.
That would be a great place to visit right now sinc we're having winter now.

Oregon's unemployment rate is 11.7%. Unfortunately we don't have warm beaches to bask on so our unemployed have an unhealthy paleness to their complexion.
I guess some of these people are working in the afternoon/evenings or perhaps they are tourists?? Unemployment is a problem here too, on the other hand we have lot`s of people from other countries working here and who are payed less than Norwegian Unions/ workers would have been willing to do the work for...... It is too complicated and the politicians always promis more than they manage to do.
And who elected them?

Most of the world is living beyond its means, encouraged and pampered, charging free meals on future generations and courting default.
It's easy to blame this on politicians, but it's the people, or at least most of them...
