When we visited Portugal about 10 years ago (before there were Daily Photo blogs), we were relatively ignorant of the architecture and did not know about the extensive use of tile as an exterior building material. What a delightful surprise it was.
I hope there are no vinyl siding salesmen who come around and try to convince people to put siding over their tiled houses.
Such a lovely house! I love the tile! It does remind me of houses I saw in Portugal when I visited there a number of years ago. Lovely memories as well!
And I will forever continue to be fascinated by them.
I just realized something though: Do the owners have to stock up on replacement tiles? Otherwise, what happens when the design is discontinued by the manufacturer?

I think the curtains, window box, and delicate grate add to the beauty of this tiled residence.
This makes me want tile my house. Very pretty.
It's not just tile trim, it's the whole front! Very nice!

Works on the facade must be a nightmare for these people...
Very pretty house - Portuguese tiles are THE best!
Could we see more of these tiled buildings? Please?

The Portuguese must be the world's greatest tilers! Just gorgeous. I'm going to have to put a visit to your country on my "bucket" list!
How wonderful. The tile in your area is so beautiful.
Woopee! Lovely tiles. One of the things I love about Portugal.
Thanks for visiting Norwich Daily Photo and leaving your comment. Come visit again. Here's to a great week ahead!
I like the colours of the tiles on this one ... make the building seem less ornate but ornate at the same time.
Love seeing all the tiles in your town.
Sydney - City and Suburbs
Your downtown must be lovely indeed. Somehow I imagine that the insides of these houses are cool even in hot weather.
