Calm Vs. Violent

The above pic was taken a couple of days ago.
Meanwhile the high tides of September are back and this is how the same beach looks like now:

So different but each beautiful in its own way.

Those high tides don't leave much beach! I prefer the calm one.

Your beach shots are always so inviting!

Extreme high tides wash out everything. I'd prefer the calmer days. Do you get 'sneaker waves'? Everything will be calm--waves rolling in--pretty to watch and all of a sudden a huge wave will blast through and knock everything and one down. Not safe at all. MB

One of the pleasures of living in a coastal community must be seeing the many moods of the sea!

I'll take calm, thank you. Oh JM you make your little part of the world look very tempting. Bon weekend,

Love the contrast and they're both gorgeous captures! One thing I love about living near the water is the ever changing view! Have a great weekend, JM!

As a bather the preference is obvious for a calmer water, but as a photographer I like a rough sea.

This kind of violence I can handle. Nice study in contrasts, JM. And I always love the sea.

I love seeing all the different faces of the ocean.

I like the use of comparison shots.

The sea rules the world. Sometimes it is beneficent but other times, watch out!

I wonder why I had to immediately embiggen that first photo? Maybe it was the glorious color of the water. Yes, I'm sure that's the reason!

Excellent study in contrasts, JM.

I'll take the violent if only for the sounds of the crashing waves.

I'll take it either way. That beach is gorgeous with that blue/green water!

Oh my ... either way ...
OK that's it, I am on my way! Sheesh.

Thanks for the two different views!
I'm enchanted by the colour of the water in the first shot!

Your composition of the top photo is excellent! The blue-to-green color fade works well and the figure draws your eye back to the sparkling blue water.
