@Ann: Yes, the Portuguese ruled Malacca from 1511 to 1641, when the Dutch kicked us out! :-) There still is a portuguese neighbourhood as well as some old monuments and a ship museum there.
What a beautiful building and I love the facade! It is different! Terrific capture as always, JM, and another wonderful visit to your country! Thanks as always for sharing!

Magnifique et étonnemment "moderne" !
What an unusual war. Do you know that there is still a Portuguese village in Malacca in Malaysia?
Thanks for asking about th eEarthquake.
Beauty. 1523.
Which reminds me that we have same decoration on one of the buildings, but they are drawn, visual effect is the same.
This reminds me so much of Venice, and now I see where the influence comes from!

The decoration on the facade certainly is different. It reminds me of some of the pottery styles in the Southwest, USA.
What a notable building with such unusual style! I like the little balcony from yesterday, too!
Such a magnificent place!
That is the most unique exterior!

What an amazing facade. Great design. I would how the light plays on it early in the morning or in the evening.
What an unusual facade - never seen stonework like that. I don't think it would be concrete in 1523. I'm glad they're going to use the building.
The exterior is very unusual and marvelous. Just think this was done in the 1500s with out all our modern technology. Excellent. MB
Such a beautiful building should be saved. I am glad it has a new life.
I remember this peculiar building, but it was in far worse conditions than now. I'm glad they restored the house and found a good use for it.
Relembra alguma coisa de "oriental", a fachada é maravilhosa, com um textura incrível e linda!
As janelas e formas são muito charmosas!

strange front , but perfect for photos , i think it changes with the light and creates beautiful effects :)
tres belle et surprenante architecture, une maison hérisson ;)
What an interesting façade.
fascinating
It certainly looks like ti comes from a different part of the world ... though I was having difficulty placing exactly where.
Very interesting.
House of nipples?
An interesting structure for sure! 1523, heh? Well, at last I've found something a bit older than I am!
Fascinating building. It reminds me of a cheese grater.
Veru unusual but beautiful building!
Funky texture! I'm not sure I like it, but I'm still glad that it's going to be restored. Unusual, at the very least.
That's definitely a unique building!
This building is truly magnificent: thanks!
What architecture!
