I took some photos of Julie standing in the archways of this cloister.

Amazing detail. They knew how to build them back then.

Such unbelievably fantastic details!

It's like lace made of stone!

This is just beautiful. So many details! I can't imagine the work that went into this building. They really don't make them like this anymore.

Lace.
Few days ago I was sketching the 18th century chapel, fell in love with it from first glance. 20min after the start I was sending curses to the architect, it drove me mad to copy so many details. And I know that I would never! try to sketch Manueline Arches.
Why did not they build a square block with square windows?)))

I, too, am amazed by the incredible details and it does indeed look like lace made of stone! Marvelous post/photos as always, JM! And thanks as always for sharing them with us! Have a lovely evening!

Absolutely gorgeous. Do I spot some Celtic symbols or am I just tired? ;-)

@Ciel: Celtic, where? Mmmmm... I don't think so, but don't take my word for granted in this case... :-)))

What fabulous detail! It looks very tall; I know, I sound like I'm 10, but that's what came to mind :}
