Once Upon A Time

... there was a castle (14th century) at downtown Cascais. It no longer exists but some walls have fought against time and can still be found there.

It makes me happy that they are still there, standing their ground. Long may they live.

The last time I drove through Cascais, I noticed the castle walls but didn't have time to stop. Thanks for the pictures.

It looks full of character and history - I like the cobblestones too.

La cour pavée a l'air magnifique ! C'est beau l'opposition du blanc et de la pierre.

The old walls give the warmest feeling of the city. Good they are kept.

It looks like some of the walls get some loving care. Lovely walls.

It is good to see that history is preserved where possible. They remains must have so many stories to tell :-) Diane

This is just fascinating, JM! The fact that anything is still standing from the 14th century blows my mind! That's older than I am! :)

Awesome, and I bet if you didn't know there used to be a castle there, you would have missed it. Very cool!

JM, I've always been impressed with your photos, your home town, and travels, but recently your compositions have taken on a new depth. I just had to say, they're lovely.
By the way, I'm so glad to hear you're not dropping off your balcony, thanks for clarifying! :)

It is good that there is still something left to remind people it was there.
