Lovely capture as always, but I do understand about depressing skies!! That's all we've had recently! Hope you get some sun for the weekend, JM! Enjoy!
Yes, if you are used to a steady diet of sunshine, the winter doldrums can get one down. It does allow for great photographic opportunities to express different moods as you do so beautifully with this wonderfully composed image.
I suppose it is depressing because of the bare limbs reaching up. This would be a good photo to convert to sepia or black and white. The bright green grass ans foliage contradicts the idea of depressing.
I read your blog every day although I seldom comment (pardon). The blue tile murals in the fountains at Paço de Arcos are very beautiful. I have tried to find more about them using google but have found very little. I am curious about their age and what they depict.
Your blog is very interesting and much appreciated.
When I feel winter depression I look at the oranges, the more oranges, the better. Green trees and grass are great depression fighters, but not in Moscow in January). So beautiful green grass in Oeiras.
That looks beautiful to me. If there's one thing I don't miss about living in Europe (or the northeastern U.S.A.), it's those relentlessly gray winter skies. I love my sunshine!
It's interesting that so many people find this not depressing. I also usually enjoy everything about winter, but I have to say the scene seems very dark, or maybe it's just because I've seen this sky every day for a long time this winter! Your scene is striking. Nice photo with those trees and benches.

I fid this elegant, not depressing.
I liked this picture, very well
belle ruelle bien encadrée
It is a bit desolate but the green grass is a rare find in most of the northern hemisphere during winter... nice capture, JM!

This looks like what a city park should look like. I would like to see this same scene in spring, summer and fall.
No tropical colors here, but I can't find it depressing: winter it's a season that often shows the real beauty of a park.

Awesome picture. I think the depressing overcast(ness) of the day helped give just the right light for an excellent photograph. Well done my friend.

It does look like winter but it has a certain winter beauty.

It might be depressing on one level but it makes for a striking photo.
It looks warm to me!

I don't find this depressing at all. Now if it was raining, maybe. :) I like this shot!
Not so depressing with the pretty green to offset that grey.
I love the feeling this photo gives. It gives me a calm feeling.
Oh no, if you want depressing winter mood come into the norse with all the ice and snow! This pic show a warm mood, very beautiful!
Ah but the trees are so beautiful.
Not depressing at all. Almost like Finnish summer!
Depressing? Not at all!!

I absolutely love parks planted symmetrically with trees. They will be wonderful in a few more months.

It looks more peaceful to me than depressing. But I bet the trees are more beautiful with leaves.

Ah, but it makes for a fine photo!
Perhaps, JM - but the green grass is a reminder that we are now approaching the intersection of Winter and Spring...
Winter? Where?
Okay está cinzento, mas eu achei maravilhoso, as arvores formam um lindo desenho e perspectiva!
Amei!
