No need to distress or add textures here in Sintra! This is what I reach for in some of my work in a place that is but a little over 100 years old rather than centuries old. Oh how I love these surfaces, textures, and colors.
I love, love your DECAY photos but they bum me out! To see such a former gem become abandoned and now in such poor repair! There must be quite a story and history to this property....
I, too, hate to see the decay and the abandoned buildings, but they do indeed make for great photos and, as always, you get the very best, JM! Hope you've enjoyed a lovely weekend and have a great week ahead!
Oooh. The textures and colors you've captured are amazing. I'm with Leif in feeling bad about the decay. But I can't help but applaud the beauty you've found in it.
Every time I pass this beautiful quinta it breaks my heart to see how the decay continues....but never mind maybe soon it will be torn down and made way for some new condos like those in your next photo!:( beijinhos, Katherine.

Hate to see building like these abandoned! The remnants of time really make interesting photos, tho.
that first image is really rich. the colors, the arches and angles. beautiful.
Sad they are such beautiful windows. Diane
The colors of decay.
Nice blending of colors. Even the roof is sprouting.
Great windows like this should have someone peeking out of them. Maybe someone will fix the place up and it will be a home again.
I think I saw this building in Sintra and it made me think of one of my favourite residential buildings in Helsinki. Fortunately that one has been recently renovated.

This is sad, but some decay is more picturesque and interesting than new building.
Even abandoned it's still pretty. I can imagine how beautiful it used to be!
very nice shots of a 'rusty' house -
Wonderful photos. It looks a horribly damp building but that makes for such rich colours and textures. I am enjoying exploring Sintra with you.

Quelles couleurs - jusque dans la mort !
Gorgeous shots!
I just love the dilapidation!
Your photos of decay constantly remind us of how we should protect these old sites...
The colors and texture in that first photo are exquisite... a piece of art found in the ruin of an old building.

This really is in need of some loving care. It must have been a wild red in its day. It still is red, red.
So sad yet so lovely the way you captured it.
It is sad to see the decay, but at the same time, the decay has its own kind of beauty, which you display so well.
It's ghostly in some way and actually very beautiful. You do the best decay shots!
wow, amazing texture and colours !
Woahh, the colours of this building are fantastic even if it's dilapidated!
Still very beautiful!
