That is a LOT of nymphs!! And what a grandiose carriage it is! Can just imagine the jaw-dropping looks if someone suddenly drove that out onto the streets today! Marvelous post as always! Have a great evening, JM!
Ca vaut toutes les Rolls du monde ! une balade dans cette calèche me conviendrait parfaitement ... j'espère que le fils du roi est compris dans le prix !
I'm sorry but I when I first saw this I laughed out loud. Probably the wrong response. Couldn't help it. This is so far over the top it creates a new meaning for "top"!
Gad, what gaudy gold garish ostentation!
What kind of ego must one have to ride about in such a thing? I mean, really. Even the king of the world would not deserve that!
;-))
Okay, I'm done now.
Well, not quite. Your photos of it are superb, as to be expected!
A bit too plain in the middle section, but they can fix it with a few kilos of gold... It is really an awesome coach! I wonder if they ever used it... Maybe for a coronation ceremony?
Like it or not, that's style. And what craftsmanshipt. There is a carriage museum in Versailles but I haven't been yet, you have to pay the palace entrance to go visit it :-(

un carrosse de reve, il est magnifique
Over the top indeed - super duper fancy! Must have been the top-of-the-line "Rolls Royce" of the time!
Tantos detalhes, belissima carruagem!

It must have been a sight to see, with the regal horses pulling it down the street. Amazing.
Whoa! That is gorgeous!
I think it needs one or two more nymphs, don't you? :-)
The horses must be really strong! I imagine that coach is heavy!!
@Sharon: LOL!
That really is overly ornate! The carriage must weigh a ton.
It looks very disturbing, providing revolutionary ideas of revolution...
My flat is more modest then there coach))

It is impressive!
Guess that even with this, you could get a parking ticket.

Beautiful picture!
Glad to see that the trouble with blogger is over.

These are just amazing. I remember your shots of this museum from a couple of weeks ago and was blown away.l Tonight these coaches re-blow me away.
OMG. Wretched excess. The only thing I can think of that compares to this is the Royal Barge Museum up-river from Bangkok. Just as overblown.
Just a bit.
I wonder what it must feel like to ride around in one of these coaches?
It is a spectacular looking coach, but very ostentatious!
I cannot imagine that this was ever really used out on the road. It is beautiful in it's own gaudy way. MB
Pretty, and neat to see...but yeah, over the top :)
Someone went a little wild. Maybe the artist and the person who commissioned it get a good laugh when it was all finished!

Wow, Barogue at its highpoint! Although I love barogue music, in sculpture I prefer other art periods more.
Additional passengers every time! Amazing sculpting, but, joining the chorus, you said it, over the top.
Holy cow! These are incredible!!!
