This is how the mill on the previous post looks now

The new version is less scary but still strange.

It looks sterile and cold. It's neighbor, on the other hand, looks inviting. Whitewash looks too extreme.

What!! How things can change with a coat of paint.

it is eerily dressed in a sheet of white. i wonder how long it will take the elements to temper that unblemished veneer. this is a remarkable image, jm.

What a contrast between the two buildings. What kind of mill is it?

your old mills are much different than old mills here! i wouldn't even know what this was if i was travelling....the white one kinda looks beachy, the other, industrial.

An interesting transition. However, the view here is spectacular.

Wow that is quite a change JM, it's so pristine, but somehow against the blue of the sea and sky it looks quite startling!! Hope you have a great weekend.

You definitely need sunglasses to look at this now. What a difference!

@Brattcat: Actually one winter (and taggers year round) is enough to make it look decayed. Whoever paints it, does it every spring.

@Kate: All I know is that it used to work with the tides but, honestly, I have no idea how and I never managed to get any information.

This is remarkable. It is so white! The photo is fabulous and the location is priceless.

It looks like an art installation!

Do they covered it with floor?

Halcyon said...

I wonder how long it will stay like this?

Lol @ VP. I wonder how long this Greek look will last!

Superb capture as always, JM!! It is indeed remarkable! You were asking about the red trees in my post yesterday. They are Japanese Maple trees -- you might want to check them out here: http://www.nurserytrees.com/Redleaf_Japanese_Maple_Availability_2006.htm

Have a great weekend!

Sylvia

The contrast drives this shot well.

The contrast here is superb. Was the sun shining directly down on this thing? So very white! You do come up with some cool photos!

That is a blinding white!

That was interesting having the comparison of then and now. It's hard, if not impossible, to compare the two photos -- they are so different. Time works its wonders (or not ;>)

Gostoso de ficar um tempo neste lugar sem fazer nada, só olhando o mar... e a vida passar.

Oh I like it. It's a piece of art now. Don't let the taggers get near it JM!!!
