That is one major difference between Europe and the USA. Whenever we are in Europe, whenever we walk by a church we will try the door to see if it is open and take a look inside because one never knows how beautiful and elaborate the interior will be. There are surprise gems all over, in large cities and small towns.
This main altar looks almost simple compared to the rest of this ornamented church. I am quite torn about it, knowing the general level of poverty in the times churches such as this were built. Of course that has nothing to do with your fabulous photos.

I always find the level of ornamentation awesome but it really isn't to my taste. An excellent shot.

There is so much beauty, JM, that my eyes don't know where to rest! Nice.
Lovely photo - you get magic out of that camera. Sometimes I don't like the ornate decoration of churches but this one is very attractive.
someone already said it but i'd say it again - grandiose.
Fabulous! it would make going to mass a special event as it should be.
Thanks for the rooster info - I had hoped you would give us the real story!
Superb, as was the side altar. And the whole church!

To me it doesn't seem like a "little church." It's incredibly beautiful!!
What a gorgeous altar!
Made at a time when the Catholic church didn't mind spending fortunes on golden artwork. Just spectacular.
