We loved visiting the Pena Palace. A fanciful building in a dramatic mountaintop setting. Similar the Neuschwanstein, although not as large. Maybe the Rolling Stones visited the room and received inspiration for "Paint it Black," but I doubt it.
This really is a fantastic building JM, the doors are fab but the surrounds are just stunning! Not an easy shot to show off both entrances but you have done it!
Marvelous dome ceiling details and wall details, but those oxblood red doors really capture the eyes! Everything you have posted from Sintra has been wonderful.

look at the depth of those entrances!
tres beau ce dome, avec les portes rouges.
EVERYTHING in this picture is unusual and mysterious.
People sure knew how to build stuff back then. I love all the details here and the red doors are a nice contrast with the whites and grays.

The frames around those doors are just amazing.

These doors are gorgeous! Love the depth of the frames! And so much intricate detail! Incredible capture, JM, as always! Enjoy your evening!

Wonderful! I hope to visit this strange place sooner or later...
How beautiful! I love all the detail.
So elaborate...almost looks like a mosque or other religious institution! Sintra certainly is a beautiful place!
Elegant! And I feel like I'm standing in front of them because of your wonderful angle
Very very beautifull.
Make a visit to my blog. I have something for you.
This is really a beautiful building with the red doors!
Gosto de cúpulas como de cópulas... ;) Piadinha...
Linda foto. Que tipo de arquitetura é essa? É influência árabe?
Wonderful image... your subject is so ornimental
Quite a contrast from yesterday's image.
Nice tile and I love the decorative doorways.
ooo red doors ... there is a special allure in doors when they are red. Love the tile patterns too.
This makes me want to spend more time in Sintra. Is there a name for the elaborate designs done in cement? This must have been very challenging to do.
Está gira, eu gosto
Abraço
Looks pretty AND very solid.
Nice details.
Every time you post a photo from Sintra, I want to go there... Again, the tiles, the carving, the colours, textures, shapes... FAB!
