We were delighted to see the tile used as a building material in Portugal when we visited in 2000. It is unique, in my experience. I would think that it would be very durable, as long as the tiles are stuck to the wall well. It must be expensive, though.
Tiles from Portugal... wonderful to see. My Mums house proudly displays it's number 14 by the front door with a lovely tile from...yes you've guessed it..

Wow, that is quite a sight JM, how pretty those building look.
Yep tile mania is a good description but perhaps best that is it tiles rather than some sort of drab grey cement.
This works for me only in Portugal. And maybe Macao. :-)
