Pena Palace, Sintra
I honestly don't like replicas but I think this window deserves being shown. Actually, it's not exactly a replica, as you can check by clicking on what must be the most famous window in Portugal which can be seen at the Convent of Christ in Tomar, 115 kms NE of Lisbon.

It's a fantastic building with wonderful architectural details!
Bon weekend 'a toi, JM!
Not exactly the same, but pretty close! It really is a fabulous building though, so much detail and the colour, nice!! Hope you have a grea weekend JM.
Sometimes it's nice when they restore buildings like the original. I agree that this window deserves being seen too. It's beautiful!
@Halcyon:
It's not restored, it's a different window on another building.
That is a fabulous window!
The detail in this work is just amazing to me.
Awesome window and the detail is totally amazing! Terrific captures as always, JM! Hope you have a great weekend!

That wonderful window is quite well know, even the replica is a real masterpiece,
Wonderful work in this windows.
Wonderful images to see.. you have many beautiful buildings to share..
Depending on where, I actually don't mind replicas, if they are good. This one is.
Wild color here, JM! I like the window, replica or not. But I don't know much about such things.
Lindas janelas. Gostei da luz sobre a parede, faz toda uma diferença.
loved your captures!
wonderfully composed and shot!!
That is an uncomfortable shade of yellow. I can feel myself wincing.
The details are a feast for the eye and so is the color.
I can understand why you make an exception of this one, Jose. The original is in a sorry state, not that I think restoring that is the way to go, however. That would simply ruin it.
Such remarkable conception and workmanship. A national treasure.
It is just wonderful! Masterpiece! Beautiful photos!
Imitation is the best form of flattery!
I love the wider shot of the building, the colors are wonderful... Please come enter it in my 'Weekly Top Shot' meme? We're on Week #13 and I'd love to see you share with me and my readers! Here's this weeks' link: http://www.theviewfromrighthere.com/blog/?p=5870
I like this building a lot ... the colours ... and the replica window looks just right.
Whenever I see images of this palace, it always amazes me!
God bless you!

When I see something like this, I am always hoping that there are those who still continue to pursue these talents in some way, whether it is to construct new work or repair the old.
