The Fado(*) Singer

Alfama, the oldest district in Lisbon, a Moorish settlement until the 12th century

(*) A form of music characterized by mournful tunes and lyrics, often about the sea or the life of the poor, and infused with a characteristic sentiment of resignation, fatefulness and melancholia (loosely captured by the word "saudade", or longing).
On November 27, 2011, Fado was inscribed in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists

I love when you highlight the Alfama district - so picturesque and historic. And now I learned something new today - Fado music!

Now that is a well-done graffiti...or should I label it a mural?

This is a wonderfully composed photo. Love the steps so steep and the colors of the building and the essence of the music is captured well in the painting!

A lovely mural. In fact, the whole district looks so very interesting.

Last time in Lisbon, we never went to listen to any fado, too much a feeling of "tourist traps". I'm sure you have some real addresses! :-)

I love this painting. I just wish it were better integrated to the wall. But it sure can't be compared to gross graffiti.
