In south Florida there are some tunnels like this which lead under a highway to the beaches. They are not as wide as this one, though, nor as well lit and therefore are rather scary. But can you imagine what this would be like at night if it had no lights? Yikes!

This seems like a perfect way to decorate an underground passage. In fact, we have an underground tunnel like this in Phoenix that leads from a busy shopping center to a large office and hotel complex across a busy street. It too is lined with artistic tile work.
