The post box or is it looks new in front of the spooky abandoned post office !

I can tell by the decay, that it is a former post office. The red trash can adds a dash of colour to the scene.

@Kate: It's a mailbox, not a trash can. :-)

The mailbox is so British!

The building is nice, despite the peeling paint. The mailbox on the other hand looks freshly painted.

how much you say about "progress" in this single image.

That building could be a showcase in the right hands.

Love the red mail box!! And, of course, the rock work of the street, but it's always sad to see the deterioration of any building! Wonderful capture as always, JM! Have a great weekend!

Seems post offices around the world are going the way of the dinosaur. At least you have a shiny new box out front.

that's a bit sad.

The red thing is a mailbox, right? Not like what you'd see here, but I rather like it. I'd probably think it was a trash can, though, and drop my trash in it! :)

This poor building needs some help. It's a nice contrast between what looks to be a new and clean mailbox.

It looks so sad, I hope that someone renovates for something else. Great shot as always. Diane

Nice juxtaposition of decaying old building (where people used to serve people) with a tidy, impersonal box. I wonder: is it a cause or effect that mail service is on the decline?

Does mail go only to the UK? ;-)

It does remind me of a British mailbox. I love the red!

this building with an imposing facade is now vacant?

Wow, that is a nice looking postal building.

The post box in the frame make the image just perfect.

Post Office"s were always such grand and important buildings and now because of modern mail methods they seem to end up like this one or as coffee shops etc. such a shame hey JM.
