Actually this place looks very different today because of security measures in order not to let the crowd of protesters get near the palace: German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the "Queen of Austerity", is having a meeting with the President.

It is sad that security is so important. If only we could all just live in peace!!
It is a beautiful place, it's hard to picture surrounded by security forces. It would be interesting to hear their conversations.

A couple of things: 1) Why does anyone need such a place to live. My god, you could house 1/2 the nation in there. A little ostentation is OK, but this is way too much. (I'm not commenting on our White House!) and 2) Hopefully your president and the "Queen of Austerity" will come up with some workable solutions.
Austerity ain't it. I see where Spanish banks have in most cases decided to forgo evicting people for nonpayment for at least two years. A step, perhaps, in the right direction seeing as how it was mostly the banks' fault in the first place!
I can imagine it looks very different today then!

Gorgeous building, always a shame when it is surrounded by security so the "people" can't get close to the "leaders". However, I am rather sure Merkel is not the most welcome person in Portugal right now.
It is a fine little cottage.
Must be an interesting place to live.
