Those ornate street lights are real treasures and in this photo offers a wonderful contrast to the simple structure behind it. I followed the link you suggested on my post this morning, and you are absolutely correct. The church is a remarkable structure despite its damage and decay. So beautiful!!
There's a sister lamppost in Versailles which in turn leads to another DPB!: http://versaillesdailyphoto.blogspot.fr/2011/03/les-fenetres-etranges.html
I'm sitting here in a cafe, having just walked off the street taking photos of aging street lamps. Suddenly we are connected, though a long ways away. Funny.
These are such beautiful street lamps! I wish we had more like them today, they surely would be better to look at than the kind we have these days!! Oh, I know, I'm an old-fashioned broad!! What can I say???
Beautiful shot. That is a gorgeous lamppost up against the brightly painted house. I also love that some of the windows are open others curtained. It makes a beautifully composed photo.
Love these things. Everytime I see a unique kind of street lamp, I take a pnoto! I'd guess this is rather old as is the building in the background. Nice contrast between the lamp and the terracotta of the house.
Those lanterns are marvelous. I am glad that many places choose to install traditional lamps instead of the plain modern ones. And these look great against the simple but colorful backdrop of a beautifully painted building.

I took a picture of one yesterday, which I will post later this week. It wasn't as pretty as this one though!
Pretty contrast between house and lamps.
This is lovely. I hope photographers aren't the only one who appreciate the beauty of things like these.
Looks great against the red background...
The color is lovely. Nice shot.
No title needed JM, beautifully composed image.

love the composition, and again that familiar shade of red!
I love these! It's always fun to find these kinds of details. :)
Beautiful details. You have eyes for contemporary art as well as old things in and around Oeiras.
Thanks for sharing!
Um candeeiro muito belo e uma casa lindamente pintada e cá está uma foto maravilhosa!
