Japanese Acacia

Rafael Bordallo Pinheiro Garden at the City Museum (Pimenta Palace), Lisbon

Rafael Bordallo Pinheiro (1846-1905) was a Portuguese artist known for his illustration, caricatures, sculpture and ceramics designs, and is considered the first Portuguese comics creator.
Several ceramic monkeys are hanging on the tree, hence the (ceramic) wolf below.

I love the craggy shape of these trees and the ceramic wolf is cute sitting there studying those monkeys.

Although I prefer trees that are leafed out, I always enjoy seeing trees like this without their leaves because the branches are so intricate! These are a perfect example and wonderful against the blue, blue skies! I, too, love the "wolf" checking out the monkeys! Wonderful capture as always, JM!!

That's a great idea! And it's a beautiful tree.

This looks like a nice place to wander on a cold winter's day.

Looks like a ceramic snail in there too! I love that all the ceramics can stay outdoors all year over there.

@RedPat: Yes, there is a big snail on the top shot! :-)

Unusual looking tree.

Been travelling, back now. What I find interesting is that this is an acacia ... we have hundreds of varieties of acacia in this country (we call them wattles) but I don't think any of them are deciduous.

Looks like a nice place to be, but also a bit like the hairstyle of a Norwegian Troll:)

What a gorgeous tree, the ceramic wolf makes it like a fairy tale book:)

The tree is magnificent. The monkeys and the wolf add another whole, and humorous dimension, to the whole scene. Love this kind of creative mixing of flora and fauna.
