A bunch of these colourful guys have chosen some of my cacti to spend a few days at.

We get masses of those on our hibiscus, I have never seen them on the cacti though. They always remind me of human masks. Looking more closely, maybe yours are slightly different, mine are called Firebugs, Pyrrhocoris apterus. Keep well Diane

I think he's pretty well protected amongst all those spines.

It's amazing you even noticed the thing in there. Must be an innocuous beetle, right? Looks like a huge Lady Bug to me!

Are they welcome visitors or just pesks?

They've chosen a well protected "hotel" for their visit!! I love it! What a fun shot for the day, JM!!

Ooh those spikes!
Are they harlequin bugs that run around tail to tail and are first cousins to the 'stink bugs' that are over-running my garden?

Hope they are not "bad" beetles. But a wonderful photo as usual J.M.

Beautiful spines, and the bug adds color.

Amazing this critter could get in there without hurting himself.

Haha! it's very own 'safe haven', nothings going in there to get it! Well spotted JM, you do love your plants so I'm not in the least surprised that you noticed this visitor!
