Palácio Vagos/Clinica de São Cristóvão (St. Christopher Clinic)

The original building, which dated back to the Middle Ages, didn't survive the 1755 Great Earthquake. The palace was rebuilt according to the late 18th century style and in 1913 it was converted into a clinic.

This certainly doesn't resemble any clinic I've ever seen here in the US!! Awesome tile work as always and superb captures -- as always!! I do enjoy the history you include!! Thanks for sharing, JM, hope your week is going well!

I am convinced that Lisbon is full of such great buildings like these. Never tire of your perspective.

If the building represents the class of care people receive in this clinic, the people are very fortunate!

Is the the same St. Christopher that hangs in the windows of so many American cars?

More of your area's superb stonework.

Obviously I was distracted by the benches!

It certainly didn't seem to suffer from its rebuild. Another beautiful building, with more of that gorgeous Portuguese tile!

I like the splash of BLUE, the open space and beautiful details on the ground as well as the building.

What a great place!
