Looks like a beautiful staircase. When I was a very young girl in my very first school, the building had a staircase similar to this. When no one was around, I would pretend I was dressed in a grand gown and would slowly walk down the stairs. I suppose it was something I saw in a movie somewhere.

I think I should know about the Alentejo House, but I have forgotten whatever it is that I should know! :)

Quite an pair of elegant staircases. I sense richness and quiet characterizes this place.

Very interesting architecture. The central staircase is spacious but the sides feel cramped. It is unusual not to have some kind of space or hallway connecting the top of the two upper staircases. A visitor is forced to make a decision about what door to co through while still climbing. I wonder if there is some deeper meaning in this.

I would have loved a sweeping staircase like that, but maybe as I get older it is not such a good idea :( Diane
