World Press Photo 2012 (2 of 4)

A portrait of our world.
These are detail shots I took of some of the photos that most impressed me.
All images were captured in the Middle East (I decided not no post the most shocking ones).

Such moving shots. And so terribly sad that the killing never seems to stop.

Even these are difficult enough to take in. But... we need to be reminded.

War and anger is horrible and so many innocent people suffer. Why cannot we all be friends, or at least put up with those that we dislike. We live in a sad place and there is so much beauty around we all could share. Thanks for your visit to my diary. Diane

Human suffering . . . will humans ever become humane? Will man made suffering only end with the end of the world?

So sad.

Heartbreaking images JM, but so important to record these dreadful times in the hope they might make a difference in the future,

Very moving. Such anguish----I am crying too and asking WHY!!! Mb

Heartbreaking captures but, yes, we do indeed need the reminders. When does the world tire of seeing such anguish and when do people of the world make an effort to stop it???

Photographers of this kind of images do not have a very good record of fairness in Middle East. The dead are dead, but they are often misleading or plainly wrong about who are the real killers.

This is obviously an amazing exhibit. The graphic nature, while difficult to absorb, is exactly what the world needs to see. I just find it sad, that most likely the people that need to see this the most are ignorant of the exhibit. Thank you for putting these out there to the world.

The ones you chose to post are truly heart-rending and a sad commentary of what humans do to one another...for what!!!!!

We need to be reminded of our shared humanity. But even that never stands up to hatred and war.

And just this much is searing.

We saw one of these shows at the Borges Center in Buenos Aires a few years ago. It felt like we had been punched over and over.

So very sad but I agree with Birdman we need to be reminded.
