New Guest

.
Look what I found on the ground right behind my house yesterday: a baby falcon!
He was very weak and scared but I've been feeding him very moistered minced beef and he already looks better now. I'm taking him to a wildlife shelter so he can be well taken care of and hopefully he will be released when the time comes.

Feeding him chicken would have been nearer his natural diet. Beef isa very dense meat. Sweet of you to care for him and take him to a place where he will get the best of attention. I hope to see a picture when he is being released into the wild.

Arija, I spoke on the phone with the person responsible for the wildlife center and he said that wet minced beef (burger meat) is fine.

He was looking at you to ask for more food? He is cute baby! And he is lucky that you were the one who found him.

Utterly amazing. I could look at this photo for hours. Looks like something you'd find in a Disney cartoon. Wonderful. How in the world did it land up in your yard, I wonder? So glad you're taking care of it and sending it off to a shelter. I don't think you'd want a full-grown falcon in your house! :)

@Lowell: How he got here will remain a mystery! The only thing I can think of is that he might have fallen from a big seagull's beak after having been stolen from a nearby falcon nest... but I will never know if I'm right or not.
