Mouraria By Night

After the conquest of Lisbon in 1147, the Moors heve been confined to a kind of ghetto called Mouraria, which is now one of the city's oldest and poorest districts. New projects are giving life to this place and have recently put it on travel guides. These shots were taken on the Mouraria Light Walk I posted on a couple of days ago.

I love the purple light at the top of the hill.

Loved your travel story about the scaffolding. That would have been terribly frustrating.

You have a knack for these tricky night shots that I wish I had. I just need more practice I guess. These are surely prize winning shots and should be in a magazine.

These are stunning, JM! I love the window drawing in the first shot and the castle/churh? with the light. The 2nd shot is just a cool slice-of-life and one cannot help wonder what's behind the window with the light. That last shot is kinda spooky. Who are all those people and what are they doing and were you safe?

Fantastic images, mesmerizing light and shadow plays!

Are these sodium lights, to minimize light pollution? The yellow orange colour gives that impression. It's beautiful, though. Wished more cities would tone down their streetlights.
